On Tuesday the 13th of May, we had our last Spring '08 general assembly meeting and annual elections. We are very pleased to announce a successful general assembly meeting and election of eight new officers. The following are our new officers for the academic years 2008-2009:
President: Edith M. Estrella Ramos
Vice President of Leadership: Kyle Rattan
Vice President of Service: Justin Boshell
Vice President of Fellowship: Owen Oliver Parker III
Vice President of Scholarship: Arbed Cancel
Press Relations: Eileen Todaro
Treasurer: Fernando Serna
Secretary: Vianna Welch
Congratulations to new elected officers, I know this will be as rewarding for you as it has been for all of us. We are excited to be passing the torch to these promising students at the Induction ceremony on May 19th.
We would also like to take this time to let you know that there are still two vacancies to the Xi Kappa officer team. That of:
Events Coordinator: Work with on and off campus personnel to plan and run events. Full understanding of campus and facility logistics. Maintain rapport with IT for audio/visual needs. Work with buildings and grounds and security for pre and post event procedures. Responsible for aesthetic setup and program planning/design. Oversees special guests and VIPs.
Technical Specialist: Maintain and oversee all technical aspects of chapter needs. Includes website maintenance and management of the email client. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office, HTML, and an eagerness to learn. The perfect candidate should have experience with website design, management and graphic design applications. Training in current setup and procedure will be provided.
If you are interested in running for one of these positions you can reply to this email and we will hold elections at our next general assembly meeting to fill these spots.

American Cancer Society Fundraiser |

Xi Kappa is very happy to be holding a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society this Spring.
We encourage you to stop by the breezeway to show your support, volunteer, or ask questions.
Time & Dates: 12pm-2pm
May 5,7,12,14,19,21 & 28th, Mondays and Wednesdays
Location: Breezeway (Between the cafeteria and the clusters).
This fund raising effort will culminate at the Prospect Park Relay For Life, on June 7th at 4pm.

Whether it's your friend, a family member, or neighbor, we all know someone who has been touched by cancer. Many of us are concerned about this disease and want to do something about it. That's why I've decided to take part in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®, and would like you to join, too.
Relay For Life brings together the whole community and helps raise funds for the fight against cancer. At the event, we'll camp out overnight, walk around the track, and meet others who care about this cause. We'll pay tribute to cancer survivors and caregivers, and honor those who lost the fight through a moving luminaria ceremony.

Hi Xi Kappans,
I just wanted to remind you to sign up for the Emergency Notification System.
We all remember, and I do not have to enumerate, the many tragic events that have taken place at schools and campuses across the nation. Our school is taking tremendous strides to keep us and our campus safe. This system allows our school to notify us, using the method of our choice, if anything should occur. It is also extremely useful in the case of general inclement weather alerts and school closings.
We now have to do our part by signing up for the Alert system. It take a couple of minutes on the CUNY portal, which is a valuable tool for News, Events, Internships and more.
